Plans to build a 12-mile tidal barrier across The Wash has won support from British Gas owner Centrica despite a backlash from green campaigners over the scheme.
Developers behind the £3bn barrier, which would stretch from Skegness in Lincolnshire to Hunstanton in north Norfolk, believe it has the capacity to generate enough green power for up to 600,000 homes and boost flood protection for much of East Anglia.
